PMAC announces an open call for our juried exhibition, HEAT/WAVE, featuring digital art and photography. Images should evoke the theme of Heat | Wave.  Entrants may submit up to two images for juror review.
All styles of 2D artwork and photography–where digital processes of any kind were integral to the creation of the images–are acceptable. This call is international, open to all artists in all geographical locations. Local artists are encouraged to submit.


  • The grand prize winner receives a large format print up to 20”x20” on museum quality paper and a $200 prize.* 
  • Second place winner will receive one print of their work and $75 cash prize.*
  • Third place winner will receive one print of their work and $50 cash prize.*
  • A People’s Choice prize will be awarded and the winner will receive one print of their work and $50 cash prize.

The exhibit will be widely promoted and will include an opening reception for all selected artists and their guests.

*Prize amounts are based on the expectation of at least 50 submissions. Cash prizes may be adjusted if there are fewer submissions.

Deadline for Entries: April 15, 2020

Winners notified: May 5, 2020

Artist’s Reception: June 12, 2020, 5-7pm (People’s Choice Award will be announced at 6:30pm)

Exhibit dates: June 8 – August 21, 2020

All entrants will be notified by email. No phone calls, please.

Winners will be asked to FTP high resolution files to the gallery for printing.

Entry Fee: $35 (USD) for up to two images; artists may submit more images for an additional fee of $35 per every two images
Submission Rules:
Artists must register and submit through our web site only. File uploads are the only accepted submissions. Each file should be 300 dpi at 12” x 12”; jpeg, tiff, and pdf are the only acceptable file formats for submissions.
Please do not send materials to PMAC via email or snail mail; they will not be viewed or returned.

Sales of Artwork:

Each exhibited artwork will be offered for sale as a limited edition print of up to 5 issues. All prints will be sold for $25 with 100% of proceeds benefiting the art tuition-aid fund of the Portsmouth Music and Arts Center, a 501(c)3 nonprofit community arts center. All artwork remains the intellectual property of the artists, and by submitting to this show, each artist consents to the use of each image for no more than five 12” x 12” prints to be sold to benefit the charity. Each artist agrees to additionally allow use of their images for promotional purposes.

Gallery Information:

The HAAS Family Gallery & Recital Hall is a multi-purpose space for appreciating visual art and music. Artworks exhibited are viewed on a daily basis by gallery goers as well as students and their families. It is an active space for all ages, and so work must be appropriate for viewing by young children. (No nudes or disturbing themes.)
