Linocuts are a form of printmaking using linoleum sheets as a relief surface. This adult art class will explore the world of printmaking by carving, inking, and impressing a linoleum block on paper, creating beautiful personal works of art. Learn how to plan your printed image, what carving techniques will best serve your vision, new methods for printing, and what it means to “edition” a print. Explore the long history of relief printmaking from classic to contemporary and create your own unique work in dialogue with both storied traditions and modern trends. You will also learn how this process can successfully be done in a home studio.
