Spring 2025 opportunities at PMAC include art classes, music classes, and music ensembles! Check the list below to find the best fit for the youth/teen artists and musicians in your life.

Spring Art Classes for Youth (Ages 8-14)

Unleash creativity this spring with fun and engaging 6-week art classes! Perfect for young artists of all skill sets, these classes explore different techniques, styles, and mediums while inspiring kids to embrace their imagintation.

Ages 8-10
Tuesdays, 4-5:30pm

Create drawings, paintings, and sculptures inspired by your favorite Squishmallows and other stuffed friends. Explore paint on canvas, fabric/stuffing, and clay in this class that honors all things SQUISHY and SNUGGLY!

Wednesdays, 3:45-4:45pm

Let your imagination run wild in “Creative Creatures”! Using pencils, pens, clay, and more, students will design fantastical creatures while gaining inspiration from the natural world and learning foundational art techniques.

Ages 9-12
Wednesdays, 5-6pm

Discover the magical role that observation plays in art. Learn shading, perspective, and drawing techniques that bring people, animals, and everyday objects to life. Through fun, creative exercises, develop new skills and build confidence about what you can create with just a pencil and paper.

Calling all future graphic novelists and cartoonists! Develop your storytelling and drawing skills, design original characters, and bring your imagination to life on the page.

Youth Music (Ages 8-11)

Calling all young musicians! These interactive music classes are designed to spark creativity and teach foundational music skills in a fun, supportive environment.

Thursdays, 4:00-4:45pm

Embark on an interactive musical journey where creativity meets discovery! From African drumming and body percussion to video game music and the science of sound (and much more!), explore the many ways to make and compose music – perfect for curious musicians.

Start your journey to rock stardom with Rock 101! Tailored for younger musicians, this program helps you build confidence, learn cool songs, and perform live with your bandmates. Songs/parts are tailored to your skillset.

Love to sing? Join PMAC’s Sandpipers Youth Chorus: a welcoming group of singers ages 9–16. This is a fun opportunity to sing in 2- and 3-part harmony, strengthen your musical skills, and learn different song styles in a supportive setting.

Teen Music Ensembles (Ages 12-18)

Take your music to the next level with PMAC’s exciting teen ensembles! Jam with peers, explore different styles, and perform on stage at legit local music venues in and around Portsmouth. We’re all about creativity, connection, and playing music that speaks to you. Whether you’re into jazz, blues, rock, or choir, there’s a place for you to shine.

Seeking drum set, as well as additional Bass/Keys/Winds/Brass/Strings

Collaborate with bandmate peers to pick, learn, and perform exciting rock covers in music venues around Portsmouth. Parts can be tailored based on your skills and experience. This ensemble has multiple sections — let’s find a fit for you!

Take your jazz skills to the next level in our Teen Jazz Ensemble! Explore improvisation, tackle both classic charts and contemporary tunes, and perform at venues across the community. Strengthen your musical chops alongside other talented musicians who share your passion for jazz.
