This class is for ages 55+.
Explore the craft of bookbinding handmade books in a relaxed, welcoming studio environment. You will learn foundational bookbinding techniques, including folding paper, piercing signatures, and simple hand-sewn bindings such as pamphlet stitch and long stitch variations. The class also explores how various folding patterns—including accordion pages, gatefolds, and layered forms—can shape how a book opens and moves.
Each session blends guided instruction with open studio time, allowing you to move at your own pace and ask questions. By the end of the course, you will have created a small collection of handmade books that tell your unique story.
New and returning students are welcome in Bookbinding; fresh projects each session support continued exploration and skill-building.
Creative Aging Program: Adult students ages 65+ enrolled in this class are eligible for a tuition discount ranging from 50% to 100%, based on their age. Visit the registration page for full details. This program is supported by a grant from the Foundation for Seacoast Health.
