Private lessons at PMAC are weekly, one-on-one lessons in music or vidual art, designed around the student’s interests, experience level, and goals. Students of all ages and levels are welcome, from beginners trying something new to experienced musicians and artists looking to grow their skills.
New private lesson students begin with a 6-week trial, a low-pressure way to meet your teacher, settle into a weekly routine, and make sure the teacher, schedule, and area of study are the right fit before you decide if you want to continue.
Lessons are available in person at PMAC or online from home.
Starting private lessons at PMAC begins with an inquiry form so we can learn about your interest and availability. It is not a commitment.
After you submit the form, our Lesson Coordinator will follow up with teacher and schedule options. Once a match is found, all new students begin with a 6-week trial of private lessons. It’s a low-pressure way to begin lessons, get to know your teacher, and decide whether you would like to continue.
Music trial lessons are six 30-minute lessons. Visual art trial lessons are six 45-minute lessons.
Before your 6-Week Lesson Trial ends, PMAC will share next steps for continuing with ongoing weekly lessons. If the fit is working well, students typically continue with the same teacher and lesson time.
If the teacher, schedule, or area of study is not quite right, our team can help explore other options when available. Students are not required to continue after the 6-week trial.
Private lesson fees are based on lesson length.
After the trial, ongoing tuition is calculated based on the number of lessons remaining in the PMAC lesson year. Payment plans are available.
PMAC offers Tuition Aid for students in need. We believe every person should have access to music and arts programs regardless of economic status.

Private lessons give students focused time with a dedicated teaching artist. Lessons move at the student’s pace, with space to ask questions, build skills, and receive individualized feedback.

Whether a student is just beginning, returning after time away, or working toward a specific goal, PMAC teaching artists shape private lessons around each student's unique interests, experience level, pace, and goals.

PMAC teaching artists are practicing musicians and visual artists with professional training. As part of PMAC’s commitment to student safety and high-quality instruction, teachers are background checked and complete required trainings, including CPR and mandated reporting.

Students have opportunities to share their work through PMAC recitals, art shows, and other community events. These opportunities are optional and designed to help students build confidence and celebrate progress.

PMAC provides written progress reports twice a year to help students and families understand what is being worked on in lessons, where growth is happening, and what goals may come next.

For students interested in pursuing music or visual art beyond weekly lessons, PMAC teaching artists can offer guidance around auditions, portfolios, college preparation, career questions, and next steps in their artistic development.
