Need daytime transportation to PMAC from within Portsmouth, Eliot, or Kittery? PMAC is an approved stop for COAST’s Portsmouth Senior Transportation program, which means eligible riders can schedule $3 rides to and from PMAC, and other adults (18+) can also use the service at the full fare.
If transportation is something you have to think about—whether you drive less than you used to, share a car, don’t have one at all, or simply want another option—this shared-ride option can make it easier to take part in PMAC’s daytime programs. These opportunities include free creative aging art classes, adult music ensemble rehearsals (discounted for participants ages 65+), rotating free art exhibitions in the Haas Family Gallery, and private music or art lessons.
We’re grateful to COAST (in partnership with the City of Portsmouth) for making COAST transportation to PMAC available. Reliable public transit like this expands access and helps more people take part in local programs and stay connected to community life.
A flexible option for getting here
One of the most helpful things about this service is how adaptable it can be. If you’re coming to PMAC occasionally, you can schedule rides as needed. If you attend regularly—say, a weekly lesson—you may be able to set up recurring trips so getting to PMAC via COAST transportation becomes part of your routine, not a logistical hurdle.
Who can use it (and what it costs)
COAST transportation to PMAC works for adults 18+, with fares depending on eligibility.
Discounted rides ($3 each way) are available for Portsmouth residents who qualify based on:
- Age (62+), or
- An eligible disability (ages 18–61)
Adults 18+ who do not qualify under age or disability eligibility are still able to use the service—they simply pay the full fare for their trip instead of the discounted rate. COAST calculates the full fare based on mileage.
When and where the service runs
- Monday–Friday, 6:00am–6:00pm
- Trips must start or end in Portsmouth—and since PMAC is in Portsmouth, getting here fits the guidelines.
- Trips must stay within New Hampshire and Eliot or Kittery, Maine, and may not exceed 5 miles beyond Portsmouth’s city line.
How to get started
COAST uses the TripLink Common Application to enroll riders. You can complete the application online, or by phone. Eligibility documentation is required for the discounted fare (based on age or disability).

Share this with someone who might appreciate another option
If this is news to you, consider sharing it with a neighbor, friend, or family member. Sometimes a reliable ride is the difference between “maybe someday” and “I’ll go.” We want everyone in our community to have access to creative opportunities at PMAC—and we don’t want transportation to be the barrier that keeps someone from participating.
