EXHIBITION DATES November 17, 2025–January 16, 2025
RECEPTION Friday, November 21 at 5:30 PM
Pamela Bates is a self-taught abstract expressionist painter whose bold, intuitive work channels the wildness of nature and life’s beautiful small moments. Deeply shaped by the people and places of the Seacoast, where she grew up and resides, Bates’s work invites an authentic connection: art as a buoy in heavy times, and a wave of joy in bright ones.
To Thine Own Self Be True embraces imperfection as a guiding force, pushing back against the mundane and the stifling expectations of internal and external pressures. Mark making becomes a central act—alive with emotion, entering into conversation with vivid color, layered collage, and techniques like staining and tearing. These works arise from instinct, not control. Bates offers an invitation to feel deeply, trust intuition, and celebrate being unapologetically human and alive. Letting go is where the magic is found.
