Kristy Cavaretta is a Southern Maine artist whose work explores the minutiae of domestic life. With a background in film and graphic design, she brings a keen eye for composition to her printmaking practice, preferring accessible techniques like block printing, direct object printing, and collagraph printing.
Relief: Woodblocks and Their Prints features a series of woodcut prints shown alongside the original carved blocks used to create them—a first for Cavaretta. Each print is the result of hours spent patiently carving into wood, a process of slow, meditative mark-making that reveals the final image in relief. Every mark, cut, and imperfection becomes part of the work’s story. Displaying both block and print together offers a rare glimpse into the craft behind the image, honoring the time, care, and craftsmanship involved in creating each piece.
On display: March 30, 2026–May 30, 2026
