Portsmouth Music and Arts Center seeks a dedicated music educator and board-certified music therapist (MT-BC) to recruit and maintain a caseload for clients ages 5 and up, including adults. The position will be onsite at our building in Portsmouth, NH, at least one day per week, with the potential to add additional days. This position includes an immediate transition period in which the new therapist will co-lead sessions with six individual clients alongside the current clinician to ensure continuity of care, before assuming full responsibility for the caseload.
DUTIES: Reporting to the Director of Education, duties are as follows:
- Provide weekly 30, 45, or 60 minute individual music therapy sessions, for ages 5 and up, including adults
- Effectively administer and manage studio in collaboration with staff and in adherence to school procedures and policies
- Participate in recruitment activities inside and outside of the school
- Attend faculty meetings several times a year
If the candidate is also an experienced music educator and can provide music lessons or adaptive music lessons, the following duties and responsibilities would also apply, depending on the need:
- Provide weekly 30, 45, or 60 minute individual lessons on your primary instrument. Ages to be determined, should include youth and adults.
- Complete student assessments
- Prepare students for performances each semester
- Participate in recruitment activities inside and outside of the school
- Perform on faculty concerts as a soloist or with other faculty in a chamber music setting
Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy, Bachelor of Science/Arts in Music Therapy or higher. Also considered are other bachelor’s degrees with additional training and certification or equivalency programs. MT-BC credential (required). Strong clinical musicianship (voice, piano, guitar, and/or primary instrument).
