Part Time Voice Teaching Artist
Description

Portsmouth Music and Arts Center (PMAC) is seeking a part-time faculty artist in voice to teach all levels of traditional voice beginning at age 10 and including adults. Additional background in Jazz voice is a plus. The position begins immediately and will be one day per week to start. Candidates with availability on Friday afternoon into early evening and/or Saturdays are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Education, duties are as follows:

  • Provide weekly 30, 45, or 60 minute individual lessons to voice students of all levels, youth starting at age 10 and adults
  • Teach lessons in person at our school
  • Effectively administer and manage studio in collaboration with staff and in adherence to school procedures and policies
  • Complete student assessments
  • Participate in recruitment activities inside and outside of the school
  • Prepare students for performances
  • Attend faculty meetings several times a year
  • Perform on faculty concerts as a soloist or with other faculty in a small ensemble setting
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in voice performance or music education preferred. Experience in jazz or musical theater voice a plus. 1 year or more experience teaching private voice lessons preferred.

The successful candidate for this position will be subject to a pre-employment background check.
