PMAC’s Band of Hope is an adult ensemble celebrating traditional Irish and Scottish music. The group is open to acoustic instrumentalists: guitar, violin, ukulele, mandolin, cello, bass, woodwinds, & accordion. If you play one of these instruments and long to be part of a collective group of musicians in a relaxed atmosphere, this ensemble is for you.

An Irish or Scottish “session” often happens in a public meeting place or someone’s home and is a casual gathering of people who play through traditional tunes together. It’s a way to unwind, relax and enjoy the company of others in a judgement-free musical environment. This ensemble with teaching artist Jason Crigler follows a similar template. Emphasis is placed on playing the melodies of these tunes, and often groups of musicians will all play the melodies together in unison. There is an elegance and simplicity to these traditional melodies, and the feeling of playing them with a group of other musicians is quite sublime.

Creative Aging Program: Adult students ages 65+ enrolled in an adult music ensemble are eligible for a tuition discount ranging from 50% to 100%, based on their age. Visit the registration page for full details. This program is supported by a grant from the Foundation for Seacoast Health.
