In this hands-on relief printmaking class, you’ll learn the art of linoleum block printing –  from designing and carving your block to inking and printing on a variety of surfaces. Perfect for beginners and those looking to expand their printmaking practice, this course focuses on the tactile, satisfying process of relief printing while encouraging creative experimentation.

We’ll begin by exploring the fundamentals of working with linoleum, including tool techniques, safe carving methods, and image planning. From there, you’ll bring your designs to life by printing on traditional surfaces like paper, as well as textiles and unconventional natural materials such as leaves, bark, and handmade papers.

Relief Printmaking also emphasizes the use of environmentally conscious practices, including non-toxic inks and sustainable materials. By the end, you’ll have a series of original prints and the skills to continue experimenting with relief techniques across a range of surfaces.

With new projects each session, this class allows repeat enrollment for continued growth.
