The Saturday Teen Jazz Ensemble is the perfect band for intermediate and advanced students, ages 12 – 18, interested in improvising, strengthening their jazz chops and performing throughout the community. As a part of PMAC’s Jazz Institute, this advanced teen ensemble plays traditional straight-ahead charts and pieces by today’s jazz innovators.
The Saturday Teen Jazz Ensemble celebrates 20+ years of fostering a love and appreciation for jazz among teen students. Many of the alumni in this program have majored in music performance and have become jazz musicians in their own right.
Open to drum set, bass guitar, upright bass, guitar, piano/keyboard, violin, viola, cello, trumpet, saxophone, flute, clarinet, tuba and trombone. Teen Jazz welcomes students, ages 12-18 (through grade 12), with at least 2 years of private study on their instrument.
Because this ensemble is small, spots are limited, especially for instruments like drums, bass, and keyboard. Priority is given to returning students. However, we are excited to welcome new students to sign up. Registering through our system is the first step, but it doesn’t guarantee a spot in the ensemble, so keep your eyes open for follow-up communication from our team! If there isn’t an opening for your preferred instrument right now, we’ll add your name to a contact list in order to notify you of future availability and registration dates.
