John Rice is a broker/associate with Tate and Foss Sotheby’s International Real Estate in Rye. He serves as the Seacoast Board of REALTORS Chief Statistician and is a former president of the New Hampshire Association of Realtors.
John’s civic involvement includes chairing Portsmouth’s Historic District Commission, Planning Board vice-chair, vice president of Portsmouth Pro Musica and Portsmouth Rotary. He retired at the rank of Lt. Colonel from the NH Air National Guard and US Army Reserves with 34 years of service. He is a trustee of the Rosamond Thaxter Foundation.
John is a graduate of St. Paul’s School, Trinity College, and UNH (M.Ed.) He is a Titanic scholar, former member of Portsmouth Pro Musica’s A Cappella group, and has climbed all of New Hampshire’s 48 4,000-foot peaks. He has one grown son, Thomas, who holds dual citizenship and lives in Shelburne, NS, Canada.
John was married to the late Joan Rice for 50 years. He lives in Portsmouth with his husky mutt Tuck.
