Brian Shankar Adler is a prolific drummer, percussionist, and composer who grew up in the mountains of upstate New York. With a background in Indian music, a conservatory training and over fifteen years of professional experience in New York City, Adler eats, sleeps and breathes rhythm. Adler has worked with: Bob Brookmeyer, Bomba de Tiempo, Bombay Rickey, Shelia Jordan, LA Opera, Kate McGarry, Guillermo Klein, and Ray Vega. He has been featured in Modern Drummer Magazine, DownBeat, Jazz Times, and NPR’s New Sounds. His music video, “Mantra” won best music video at Transcinema International Film Festival in Peru and at the 2020 Independent Music Awards. Adler has toured four continents, has been recorded on more than 30 albums and currently leads Human Time Machine.
