Brian’s Teaching Philosophy
As a lover and performer of many different styles of music I feel well-equipped to help students reach their particular goals and to prepare aspiring professionals for the eclectic demands of being a professional musician today. The following are the core concepts I bring to every lesson I teach:
1. Music should be a thrilling and inspiring journey. The teacher’s primary job is to approach each individual lesson in a manner which cultivates and feeds the student’s curiosity and excitement for music.
2. Every student comes with a different patchwork of musical experiences, learning styles, physical abilities, and interests. The most effective lessons will cater to the strengths of each student’s unique musical profile.
3. The teacher also has a great deal to learn from his students and should therefore be humble, attentive, and broad-minded during every lesson.
