Jade is a Visual Artist and Designer born in Boston, MA and currently resides in Southern Maine. She received her BFA in Graphic Design from Montserrat College of Art, and has worked as an Educator, Freelance Graphic Designer and Multi-Disciplinary Artist. After finding a love for analog design in a digital world, she has developed a vibrant, graphic pattern-based visual language with inspiration from the natural world. She has shifted her values of color, form, and texture to her current work in colored porcelain (Nerikomi).
Art and art education have played a crucial role in who I am today and the journey that helped me to find who I am. If it wasn’t for these spaces to express myself, be consumed by projects, and to be encouraged, I don’t think i would be the successful student, educator, and community member that I am today.
My teaching philosophy is to create a space that inspires creativity, risk taking, problem solving, and vulnerability within the outcome in this learning experience. Through individual as well as collaborative projects, my hope is that students will understand and recognize their value within a community and find a sense of accomplishment in their artwork.
